Ekstrom Aquaculture, LLC Has Been Acquired by Bowers & Saha Aquaculture, LLC

07.01.2022

HOUSTON, TEXAS (January 7, 2022) – Statesman Corporate Finance, LLC (“Statesman”) is pleased to announce the sale of Ekstrom Aquaculture, LLC (“Ekstrom Aquaculture and/or “the Company”), to Bowers & Saha Aquaculture, LLC (“BSA”). Statesman served as the exclusive sell-side financial advisor to Ekstrom Aquaculture on the transaction

During its 30-year run, Ekstrom Aquaculture grew to become the largest source of fresh farmed hybrid striped bass and red drum in the United States managing nearly 200 ponds encompassing over 1,300 acres of water. Hailing from El Campo, Texas, the Company harvests, packages, and ships sustainable whole, fresh hybrid striped bass and red drum to seafood wholesalers throughout North America. Ekstrom Aquaculture brands include Silver Streak Hybrid Striped Bass® and Copper Shoals Red Drum®, both highly prized for their elite quality, freshness, and consistent availability.

BSA is located in nearby Palacios, Texas. The owners of BSA, Reed & Lynn Bowers and John & Amanda Saha, are adding to their already diverse group of businesses Bowers Shrimp Farm, Bowers Seafood, Bowers Shrimp Hatchery, B and S Fish Farm, and Saha Fish Farm. With the addition of Ekstrom Aquaculture, the Bowers and Saha conglomerate will now operate over 3,000 water acres consisting of shrimp, red drum, hybrid striped bass, and catfish. These businesses are family owned and operated in Texas and come with a strong track record for nearly three decades. All products will be marketed across the US by Bowers Homegrown Seafood. The goal from the onset of BSA is continuing to produce a superior, sustainable, product which is pleasing to the consumer with minimal impact to the environment. No hormones or antibiotics are ever used in BSA products. BSA will be the largest domestic producer of shrimp, red drum, and hybrid striped bass in the US and the largest producer of catfish in Texas.
“Aquaculture has been our passion and our life for 42 years when you include our prior operation. This is definitely a bittersweet moment for us, but it is time for Vicki and me to go enjoy the spoils of our success. The Bowers and Sahas are perfectly situated to take what we have built and leverage it with their operations into one of the largest and most diverse aquaculture operations in this country. We’re excited for them and know they’ll be successful in taking their business to a whole ‘nuther level. We are grateful for the guidance from Erik and Will at Statesman during the many complexities of getting this transaction over the finish line.” – Jim Ekstrom, President of Ekstrom Aquaculture.
