Scott McClain joined Statesman in 2010 as Vice President of the firm’s tangible asset valuation practice. Prior to this, Scott spent 7 years as President and CEO of CIS Asset Solutions, Inc., a Texas-based corporation specializing in the valuation and sale of tangible business assets. In the first 10 years of his career Scott traded various financial instruments and developed software applications for the financial services industry. During this time he acquired his Series 5, 7, 55, 63, and Group 1. His financial background gives him unique understanding of the needs of lending institutions, regulatory bodies, taxing authorities, and insurance companies. He has conducted sales and valuations for a vast range of assets including plant machinery, lab equipment, food processing machinery, oilfield equipment, inventory, high-tech gear, medical equipment, rolling stock, and office furniture, fixtures, and equipment. Scott has developed an expertise in secondary market trends as a result of his active involvement in the liquidation and auction industries, allowing for greater accuracy in determining the value of property. He is currently on the approved appraiser list of more than fifteen commercial lending institutions in the state of Texas and frequently provides litigation support for ad valorem tax assessments.
Scott is a 1993 graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, a licensed auctioneer in the state of Texas, and a certified member of the Certified Appraisers Guild of America. He is an active and current member of the Texas Association of Property Tax Professionals, the National Auctioneer’s Association, and the Texas Auctioneer’s Association. Scott lives in Austin and is married with three children.
